There is really nothing to worry about in terms of EMF from LCD or Plasma TV. Both emit very little and if you have had no problems in the past of fluorescent lighting then these will not be able to harm you in any way.
An LCD screen can be illuminated in two ways. It can be either LED lightning and by fluorescent lighting. If you have not, as I have mentioned earlier, no problems with fluorescent lamps ((including CFL energy saving bulbs), a LCD TV is not causing any problems IOM that radiation is negligable.
In the case of plasma screens, they use UV light instead of electron beam in order to get phosphor to fluorescence. They are otherwise very similar to the CRT TV that uses a very high voltage (~ 25,000 volts) and who also use magnets to move the beam left / right and up / down to “scan” each frame, which causes much stronger electric and magnetic fields than most other types of displays.
If you still feel worried about the EMF, I would advise you to buy an LED-backlit LCD screen in that it is those who produce the absolute minimum of EMF.
