Having purchased and installed a 46 inch LCD, I would say no way would ever even try this sort of thing and I doubt the airlines accepts this as “luggage”. Freight, maybe, luggage no. The box is anything but light or easy to carry, not to mention the stress this is going to cause, should you drop the package. I am 6 ft 2 inches by the way and odds are, much larger than you are…
Ship it via freight and let those people handle it. That is what they do for a living.

Phone the airline and ask.
Some may accept it as excess baggage, others may insist it goes as cargo.
